There’s something about the true happiness of weddings that I just can’t get enough of. It’s that feeling that made me choose to be a wedding photographer, and that keeps me coming back for more every year.
My style is relaxed, fresh, bright, and natural. My belief is that your happiness on your wedding day is more important than anything else, and I'll work tirelessly to ensure that you are. When it's all over, I want you to see your images and say "this is my wedding, exactly as I imaged it."
I am so proud to be one of the three co-creators of Bustle & Wed Napa Valley, a wedding inspiration studio, a one-of a-kind collaborative wedding industry work space and a lifestyle design retail boutique in the heart of downtown Napa. After 10 years working from my home, I now have a place for not only my work, but also to share with my wedding industry friends, and meet with my clients and I couldn't be more happy. Stop in anytime!
My two daughters - Anna, 20, and Lydia, 16 - are everything to me. They are constantly a wonder, each with their own view of the world, their own dreams, challenges, and styles. Having children is realizing that we are merely passengers with a guest pass in the conductor role. Soon they grow into people of the world, and we look on and say "I did that."
Christian is my best friend, my partner in life, and has been for over 20 years. He gets me. He supports me. He is gentle, smart, funny, and strong. At every wedding I photograph, I think about him, our wedding, and the years we've lived since. A wedding is the beginning of a wonderful story, and oh how that story unfolds.
I have never in my life lived without animals. Even in college, I had fish and tiny frogs, and in graduate school I cared for a dozen dolphins as part of my bioacoustics research (my past life - don't we all have one?) I'm in awe of the wonder of nature and all its diversity, and as a scientist I found out that we really only know the start of it. I wouldn't live without my pets. They can be a mess, but they are unqualified love. Yep, even the cats. ;-)
I am not an adrenaline junkie. The ocean is my fresh air, but you can keep surfing the crashing waves for yourself. I like gentle sails, peaceful kayaks, quiet appreciation of the glimpses of life that peek up from the depths. Whales are fantastic to me. Sea birds, sea lions, sea critters in general. And after the exploration, I'm a connoisseur of the good nap. Ahhhhh.

Before the wedding: You are a Jen Philips Photography couple, which means you receive the same full, uncompromising service as all couples. I work directly with you and your associate to plan timeline, meetings, and whatever else is needed.
At the wedding: Your associate will be your photographer for your engagement session and wedding, along with a 2nd photographer for full weddings. I trust her to be there for you like I would be.
After the wedding: Your images are edited in the same way as all JPP images, and I personally finalize each and every image myself.
Kelsey is our newest team member, having joined the studio mid-way through the 2019 wedding season, but oh-my, did she hit the ground running! She brought her endless talents as an established portrait photographer to our team, assisted at 8 weddings in her first 6 months, and I couldn't be more grateful. She has a wonderful eye for artful captures, is amazingly sweet to our couples, and has boundless energy and love to share.
Kendal joined the studio 5 years ago and quickly showed her talent as an artist working alongside myself and Jenna. She is now a full associate for me, available for weddings of all sizes, plus portraits & proposals near her home in San Francisco. In her own work, Kendal is a middle school teacher (her day job!) AND a wonderful lifestyle newborn photographer too, and brings the same calm, graceful demeanor that she has for both to her work at her weddings with me.
I've been so fortunate to have worked with Jenna for almost 8 years now, first when she was a newer photographer and eventually as an associate for my studio. She knows my style for weddings because we've developed it together, and is genuinely the kindest person you can imagine. She is a wife, a mom (to 4 amazingly darling little ones), and has her own lifestyle portrait photography business too. She is my right-hand, and I'd trust any of my couples to her care.
